This module will go into the metaphor of the cultural biography of landscape and the recent developments on how this metaphor is put to use as a tool for sustainable development. While the biography uses stories as means of knowledge dissemination, a different but parallel approach is presented using maps rather than stories. This module concludes with a reference to Historic Landscape Characterization (HCL). It has proven a successful tool in tracing, mapping and opening data on the landscape.
